Pitzi is Brazil’s largest mobile phone insurer, safeguarding approximately 2 million devices nationwide. Initially a company of 80 employees with only one designer, Pitzi was on a growth trajectory but needed a stronger foundation in design culture to reach its full potential.


The Leapfone connection


Following the acquisition of Leapfone by Pitzi, our team brought in modern strategies and intelligence to elevate the buyer’s capabilities. This presented an exciting opportunity to shape the company’s design approach from the ground up.


Our main focus

  • Develop a shared vocabulary and tools to enhance team communication
  • Implement regular check-ins and structured feedback sessions
  • Create a system to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and resources across the team
  • Define clear design principles and integrate them company-wide, ensuring everyone aligns with the organization’s design philosophy and decision-making process
  • Prioritize ongoing design education and training for all team members to promote continuous learning and skill development
  • Foster a collaborative and communicative culture to build a sense of community, encouraging team members to feel invested in the organization’s design initiatives


Results and ongoing impact

Three years later, I continue to contribute to Pitzi’s evolving design culture. The company has experienced substantial growth, expanding from 80 to nearly 200 employees. The design team, once a single individual, now boasts 12 talented professionals who collaboratively drive impactful projects.

This journey with Pitzi demonstrates how design leadership can serve as a catalyst for transformation, empowering a company to innovate and flourish in a competitive market.


My role in the transformation


As a design leader in this pivotal project, my responsibilities included:

  • Establishing design culture standards: I introduced principles and practices to ensure design became a central pillar of the company’s strategy

  • Talent acquisition and development: I actively supported hiring top-tier designers, building a team capable of driving innovation and excellence

  • Fostering design culture: by crafting strategies to promote creativity and collaboration, I laid the groundwork for a thriving design-driven environment

  • Rebranding coordination: I led the rebranding initiative to modernize Pitzi’s identity, aiming to attract both new talent and customers
