Nóize chairs
Product design and creative technology
Description
Iconic chair designs by Lina Bo Bardi, Marcelo Ferraz, Marcelo Suzuki, Sergio Rodrigues, and Carlos Motta are reimagined within a 3D virtual environment. These designs are transformed using data captured from video recordings of the city of São Paulo, then brought to life as single-piece 1:1 scale 3D prints produced by Materialise Belgium.
The deformation of the 3D models is achieved through video and audio coding. Video processing is handled using the Processing programming language, while the integration of the three-dimensional models is accomplished using Firefly and Grasshopper for Rhinoceros 3D.
Roles
-
Coordination of all project phases
- Conceptualization of the core idea: integrating a chair into an environment composed of video information
- Ensuring the feasibility of the studio's conceptual proposal
- Adapting the conceptual proposal to meet the gallery's requirements
- Development of visual and technical drawings
- 3D modeling for 3D printing
- Creation of a software tool capable of translating video and audio data into 3D forms using Processing and Grasshopper programming languages
- Supervision of the 3D printing process
